edging winter out
leaf buds sunning
as snow retreats

“Ridge” is one of those words we don’t have much use for down here on the coastal plain. It always evokes the mountains for me, and sometimes the battles that were fought in those mountains. It’s nice to think that spring finally is winning in this yearly, metaphorical battle.
