during their stroll
around the melt pond
the final word is hers
it is still too early for nesting

And here, we already have babies trailing their mamas. Still, given the difference in latitude, I’d say Mrs. Mallard is being perfectly reasonable.
I have some blue birds who started a nest and now I think they hit pause.
