an abstract installation
adorned the old oak tree
the mushroom’s artistry

nice detail to focus on.
A wonderful piece of fungal irony – and I think it says a great deal about the status of modern art. Time was we would say of an installation that it was ‘like a bracket mushroom’ or something, but now we all understand what it means to compare a mushroom to a generic abstract installation. For me, this is more proof that what was once fresh and thought-provoking in the modern art world often (not always) appears tired – a predictable and stereotypable formal exercise. As you so rightly say, nature has been playing with form for millions upon millions of years.

With apologies to tgedavis: I love and relate to your fungal display.
Maybe it could be titled “Big ears” ????
i thought the same thing…the tree is listening to the woods. 🙂
Like a piece of terrycloth
It’s rare for a fungus to get me to think, “Pristine and beautiful,” but this one does.
epitome of beauty and artistry of the invisible hands of god
Beautiful! I’m enjoying your posts. Keep up the great artistry!

Mushrooms or fungus on trees always fascinate me! I have never seen one this color – So beautiful! And lovely poem too! ❤️
As a forester I learned the ever changing music of nature and seemed to carry it back to the city. I have no rhyme or reason. the mushroom is just a fruiting body . what we see is nothing compared to what lies beneath
What a beautiful fungus!
A beauty – not easy to photograph
