where observation and imagination meet nature in poetry

With only its curvature telling its story
a tree rights itself against unseen forces.

indominable, those damned birches. eh?
I found a similar tree recently and wondered to myself what words I could use to describe and explain the phenomena. Thankfully you have come up with far better than I imagined.
Wow you saw one too! It’s so mysterious isn’t it…
I’ll get a pic of it; I stood and wondered for a while, and with no explanation I imagined the scene from the Matrix where they dodge bullets, bending themselves out of the way But out of the way of what?
You have a really good eye for a photo. Are you also on flickr? keep up the good work. that stone fence looks like mine on Tug Hill?
So beautiful! What a great observation.
Whenever I see a tree like this, I try to imagine what happened to it … snow? temporary fall with enough sun to rise again? When living in Vermont, I’d see small stands of trees just like this! Loved the mystery!

I love this photo, a wonderful metaphor for life. Whatever kinks and bends life puts into you, grow, stand up, stand strong.
Thanks for sharing me with your readers Mike.
You’re welcome. I love the photo.
This fascinates me. I wrote a poem about a tree with a C-curve.
I have to say I agree with Mike…your wonderful tree so representative of life! while I love trees with leaves, my favourite time of the year is after the leaves fall…there is something so beautiful about the “naked trees” as I like to call them. love their gnarly, twisted limbs…
We have a curved tree like that on our farm. Every time I pass by it, I think about the forces of nature that made the tree grow that way.
Beautiful words and image
the magic and power of nature ..
Love your site. You live in a very photogenic part of the world. Love the textures and colours. Inspiring. Thanks for liking my peacock photo at yvettemaubusson.
Fortitude is the right word for this. Thanks!
You have some stunning photos here, and some very insightful words. I feel inspired to take my camera for a walk! Thanks for liking my post on summer flowers, a complete contrast to your winter landscapes.
What beautiful poetry and photographs in your blog! (I especially love this one, being about trees – their branches always seem to find their way to the sun. )
Very well done!
APPEALING TO THE CORE.
Beautifully captured in both word and picture. A meditation
wonderful observation and perspective!
